One thing that you need to remember is that pride can never be your ally on this type of game, especially if you are a beginner. If you see your card not having any chances of winning, do not stay with that hand just because you want to be a part of the card battle. Simply wait for the right moment when you finally got a good hand. This way, you will have better chances of winning.
If you like drinking while playing poker, keep in mind that it is never advisable to continue playing if you feel the alcohol is already kicking in. Just like in life, alcohol can make you create bad decisions. If you are playing for real money, it is probably best to stay away from any kind of alcohol.
Bluffing is one of the things that made this game so interesting, but keep in mind that you do not bluff because you want to bluff. If you feel you have not been able to really master it, do not bluff your bad hand in the high hopes that other players will simply fold because the moment that your bluff has been called and you do not have a hand that can protect you, then say goodbye to whatever bet you have.
